Shreveport, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Angela Nichole Stevens, a former bookkeeper for Evangel Christian Academy, was arrested after an investigation revealed she misappropriated over $85,000 from the school.
On February 14, 2025, the Director of Development at Evangel Christian Academy reported suspicious bookkeeping activity to Shreveport Police Department detectives. The investigation was handed over to the White Collar Crimes Unit, which discovered that Stevens, who worked as the bookkeeper from April 12, 2023, to June 13, 2024, was responsible for handling and depositing cash payments from various departments within the school.
An internal review of financial records revealed discrepancies dating back to April 2023, leading detectives to trace missing funds to Stevens’ personal bank account. It was determined that the total financial loss for the academy amounted to $85,700.25.
On March 10, 2025, Shreveport Police Patrol officers took Stevens into custody. She now faces one count of felony theft in connection with the embezzlement.
