TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida teenager was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree murder involving a firearm, authorities announced.

On September 19, the Tampa Police Department discovered the body of 37-year-old Andie Morrell on North 39th Street in Tampa. This discovery led the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) to investigate a nearby home on Polak Drive in unincorporated Hillsborough County, where blood evidence indicated the murder took place.

After thorough investigation, detectives identified a 17-year-old suspect who was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm causing great bodily harm.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister commented, “It is awful to see a crime like this and to see someone so young resort to such violence.”

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover additional details.
