MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — Scott Thomas Deiseroth, 42, of Miami, was arrested Wednesday on charges of DUI and child endangerment after deputies stopped him for reckless driving with two young children in the vehicle.
A motorist reported a car swerving heavily and crossing into oncoming traffic near Mile Marker 40. Deputies caught up with the vehicle near Mile Marker 36.5 and observed dangerous driving firsthand.
Deiseroth, who claimed to be a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, was found driving under the influence with two children, ages 7 and 9, in the car. He appeared disoriented and failed sobriety tests. The children were safely handed over to a family member, and the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified.
Authorities are investigating Deiseroth’s claim of being an ICE agent. He faces charges of DUI and child endangerment.
