BREVARD COUNTY, Florida — A Florida man was arrested for drug trafficking after being stopped for a seatbelt violation, which led to the discovery of multiple illegal substances, including fentanyl and marijuana.
Steven Medlin, driving a rental car without a seatbelt, was stopped by agents with the GAMEOVER Task Force after they observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction. Upon stopping Medlin, agents found marijuana on the vehicle’s floorboard. After receiving Medlin’s consent to search, they discovered 7.4 grams of fentanyl, 7 hydrocodone pills, 3.3 grams of another fentanyl substance, and an alprazolam pill in his pockets.
Further inspection of the vehicle revealed an additional 6.3 grams of fentanyl, 124.2 grams of marijuana, 10 alprazolam pills, 17.4 grams of suspected THC wax, a digital scale, plastic bags, and a firearm in the backseat.
Medlin, who admitted to having a suspended license since 2015, was arrested and charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey emphasized that the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office maintains a zero-tolerance policy for drug-related crimes.
