Five Teens Arrested After Auburn Police Chase, Retail Theft

Suspects from Montgomery face charges after multiple collisions

AUBURN, Ala. — Five teenagers from Montgomery were arrested Wednesday following a police pursuit in Auburn that resulted in several collisions and damage to police vehicles, Auburn police report.

The suspects were charged with first-degree retail theft related to thefts reported at two businesses located on East Glenn Avenue and South College Street.

The arrested individuals include:

Brooklyn Denson, 19

Char’Myia Quan’Dashia Rena Mitchell, 19

Tyrese Smith, 18

Two juveniles, aged 16 and 17

Additional charges were filed against Mitchell for obstructing justice using a false identity. Denson faces extra charges for obstructing justice with a false identity and felony counts of attempting to elude law enforcement.

Police were alerted to the thefts and soon located a vehicle matching the suspects’ description on North Donahue Drive. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled, leading to a pursuit that ended near mile marker 31 on Interstate 85.

Following their arrest, authorities confirmed the teens’ involvement in the retail thefts.

Denson, Mitchell, and Smith were taken to Lee County Jail with bond set at $15,000, $10,000, and $5,000 respectively. The two juveniles were released to authorized adults by order of the Lee County Juvenile Intake Office.
