Five Men Arrested for Posing as Police and Robbing Mobile Shop in Mohali

Accused steal Rs20,000 and phones, arrested after investigation

The Phase-8 police in Mohali arrested five men on Friday for allegedly posing as police officers and robbing a mobile repair shop at Kumbra in Mohali district. The accused have been identified as Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Gyan Chand, and Charanjeet Singh.

The robbery took place on the evening of February 4, when the suspects entered the mobile repair shop of Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Phase-9. Claiming to be police officials, they began to verbally abuse Kuldeep. When he confronted them, the accused threatened him with dire consequences and fled the scene with three mobile phones and Rs20,000 in cash.

Following the complaint filed by Kuldeep Singh, the police launched an investigation and arrested the five suspects. The accused have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 318(4) (cheating), 319(2) (cheating by personation), 305 (theft), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (act done by several persons).

The investigation is still ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected.
