Five inter-state drug peddlers were arrested by the Rajendranagar police for their involvement in transporting 254 kilograms of dry ganja from Araku in Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai, via Telangana. The police also seized a .32 country-made pistol with 11 rounds, adding to the list of contraband items recovered from the gang.
The arrests were made following a tip-off. Acting on this information, the Rajendranagar Special Operation Team (SOT), in coordination with the local police, apprehended the suspects—Thakur Sachin Singh (30), Mohd Nadeem (21), Mohd Saqlain (24), Mohd Saleem (24), and Prasanth Singh (22)—on the ORR service road. The gang was caught in the act of transferring 100 kilograms of ganja from one vehicle to another, owned by Mumbai-based peddlers.
The total haul of 254 kilograms of dry ganja, worth Rs88.9 lakh, was seized, along with the firearms. The police’s timely intervention thwarted the gang’s plans to distribute the illegal drugs across multiple states.
