Five Columbus Residents Arrested After Auburn Retail Theft Chase

Organized retail theft leads to vehicle and foot pursuit in Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) — Five people from Columbus, Georgia, were arrested Monday after a theft at an Auburn business triggered a brief police chase and multiple foot pursuits, according to Auburn police.

Officers responded on July 14 to a report of stolen merchandise at a business located on Bent Creek Road. Employees said several suspects stole items and fled in a vehicle parked in the lot.

When police arrived and tried to make contact, the suspects drove away, sparking a short vehicle chase that ended near East Glenn Avenue. Three suspects fled on foot from the vehicle but were quickly apprehended.

Two other suspects who had stayed near the business also fled on foot but were caught shortly after.

The five arrested individuals are:

Ralph Christopher Hill, 55 — charged with organized retail theft, resisting arrest, second-degree marijuana possession, and attempting to elude. Bond: $14,500

Timothy Thomas Reeves, 30 — charged with organized retail theft and attempting to elude. Bond: $13,000

Calvin Screws Jr., 37 — charged with organized retail theft and attempting to elude. Bond: $13,000

Shuan Treomel Hill, 42 — charged with organized retail theft. Bond: $10,000

Jomarie Paola Nieves, 31 — charged with organized retail theft. Bond: $10,000

All five were taken to Lee County Jail.
