CHANNAHON, Ill. — Five people, including two men from Chicago, face multiple charges after allegedly stealing more than $30,000 in Amazon merchandise and leading police on a high-speed chase that stretched from Channahon to Joliet on Wednesday.

The suspects — Raequan T. Williams of Harvey, Shaquetta M. Capps and Aqeel S. Bell of South Holland, Stephaun L. Dennis of Chicago, and Malcom J. Meeks of Chicago — were charged with theft, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude police.
Capps was also found to have an outstanding warrant.

According to Channahon Police, witnesses called officers around 11:10 a.m. after seeing a group of six to seven people removing large boxes from an Amazon facility located at 23714 Amoco Road.

Responding officers spotted a U-Haul van and a silver SUV fleeing the scene, prompting a pursuit north on Interstate 55. Tire deflation devices successfully flattened the U-Haul’s driver-side tires near U.S. 6, but the van continued for nearly 12 miles before stopping on Interstate 80 near Briggs Street in Joliet, where two suspects were arrested.

Meanwhile, the silver SUV also fled police until officers disabled it after it took the same exit. Four suspects ran from the vehicle; three were captured, and one remains at large.

The suspects, ranging in age from 23 to 31, are scheduled for detention hearings at the Will County Courthouse.
Channahon Police say the investigation is ongoing.
