The police crime branch has cracked a house theft case in Zirakpur’s Sector 38-A by arresting five individuals, including four women, who were involved in a network exchanging stolen goods for drugs.
The complaint was filed by Ashutosh Sharma, whose brother’s vacant house was broken into. Valuables stolen included Rs23,000 in cash, six mobile phones, two cameras, three branded watches, jewellery, and various electronic items.
Acting on a tip, police arrested 25-year-old Nazim, also known as Arman, near Kishangarh Maternity Hospital on June 25. Officers recovered Rs10,000 in cash and four stolen mobile phones from him.
During questioning, Nazim admitted to being a drug addict who targeted vacant or locked homes and sold stolen items to women in Sector 38-A in exchange for heroin. Following his confession, four women involved in the racket were arrested on June 27.
Police continue to investigate the case and trace other stolen items.
