Five persons were arrested for looting gold from a Bihar resident at Koderma ghati on June 15, with police recovering most of the stolen gold, officials said on Friday.
Deepak Kumar Gupta, a trader from Bihar, was returning to Chapra from Kolkata in his car, carrying gold worth Rs 80 lakh. While passing through Koderma ghati on the Ranchi-Patna road, he was ambushed and robbed. An FIR was filed at Koderma police station on June 16.
Superintendent of Police Anudeep Singh stated that four special investigation teams (SIT), led by SDPO Anil Kumar Singh, carried out intensive raids across Jharkhand and Bihar. The breakthrough came near Ratanpur mode in Koderma ghati when police stopped a suspicious vehicle. Four suspects were arrested from the vehicle, while another key accused, Tinku Kumar, was apprehended from Narhat village in Nawada.
Police have recovered 673.7 grams of gold valued at Rs 70 lakh. The investigation continues.
