The Sadar Police Station in Chatra arrested five men on Monday in connection with the possession and intended sale of brown sugar. The accused were apprehended in the Tudhag forest area while attempting to sell 31.19 grams of the contraband, valued at approximately Rs15 lakh.
Police said the arrests followed a tip-off about an upcoming drug sale. Acting on the information, a special raiding team, supervised by Subdivisional Police Officer Sandeep Suman and Sadar Police Station in-charge Vipin Kumar, cordoned off the area. The suspects attempted to flee but were captured by authorities.
During the operation, police seized a white car used for trafficking and five smartphones linked to the suspects.

Neeraj Kumar Yadav
Prakash Kumar Dangi
Lakshman Kumar Dangi
Rakesh Kumar Dangi
While Rakesh Kumar Dangi is a resident of Lovagada, the others are from Mayurhand block in the district.
Chatra SP Sumit Agarwal stated that the investigation is ongoing to trace the supply network and uncover any further linkages in the drug operation.
