Eighteen years after the brutal murder of Andres Valdes during a home invasion in Mead Valley, five suspects have finally been arrested, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Valdes, 51, was shot multiple times on June 13, 2007, during an armed robbery at a home on Mariposa Avenue. Deputies from the Perris station responded to reports of shots fired and found Valdes dead at the scene. Several others were also assaulted and sustained minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses said masked men stormed the property to commit robbery, and Valdes was fatally shot while resisting the attackers.
Despite an early investigation, the case went cold due to a lack of evidence. This year, a fresh team of investigators reopened the case, leading to the identification and arrest of five suspects:
Kenneth Tucker, 37, of Riverside
Deshawn Hill, 36, of Riverside
Dennis Haynes, 37, of Phoenix
Kenneth Haynes, 37, of Phoenix
Keith Crutchfield, 37, of Killeen, Texas
Hill was arrested on July 5 and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Tucker was taken into custody the following day and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather more information.
