MONONA, Wis. – Erick R. Thompson-Feirn, 36, of Fitchburg, was arrested early Monday morning after an attempted burglary at an apartment complex in Monona, Wisconsin.
According to the Monona Police Department, officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress at an apartment building on the 3800 block of Monona Drive. Multiple witnesses provided information, and one caller reported seeing the suspect use a collapsible ladder to climb out of a window.
Officers, who recognized Thompson-Feirn from a previous burglary at the same location, located him behind the building near his vehicle. During their search, illegal drugs were visible in plain sight inside the vehicle. A more thorough search revealed a collapsible ladder in the trunk, along with tools commonly used in burglaries, including a lockout kit and a pry bar.
Police found damage consistent with a break-in on a window frame at the apartment. Furthermore, officers discovered that Thompson-Feirn had a temporary restraining order in place from one of the apartment’s residents.
Thompson-Feirn was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail on charges of attempted burglary, possession of burglarious tools, violation of a restraining order, and two counts of felony bail jumping. Records show that Thompson-Feirn was out on bail for multiple felonies at the time of the arrest.
Formal charges have not been filed as of the latest report, and the investigation is ongoing.
