First-Degree Murder Suspect Nashawn Green Arrested in Minnesota

Iowa Fugitive Taken Into Custody in Dakota County, MN

by Sophia Bennett

DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA — A 19-year-old Iowa man, Nashawn Kobina Joseph Green, was arrested in Dakota County, Minnesota, on March 27, 2025, on charges related to a fatal shooting in Ames, Iowa. Green was apprehended by U.S. Marshals on two active warrants: one for first-degree murder and another for theft. Authorities have confirmed that Iowa plans to extradite him to face charges.

The arrest follows the tragic shooting death of 25-year-old Parker L. Stoneburner of Boone, Iowa, on January 18, 2025. Ames police responded to a shooting at an apartment on South 5th Street, where Stoneburner was found with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to Mary Greeley Medical Center, Stoneburner later succumbed to his injuries.

Green is the fourth individual arrested in connection with the case. Three others—Destiny Skurdal, Zoe Anderson, and Abraham Guhnics—have already been charged with murder. Green was booked into the Dakota County Jail in Hastings, Minnesota, and is being held without bail. Extradition proceedings are set to begin, with Green’s next hearing scheduled for April 7, 2025.

Minnesota law permits the detention of a fugitive for up to 30 days pending extradition, which Green waived on March 28, 2025. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the shooting, and further updates are expected as the case develops.
