A 40-year-old man, Firoz Ismail Sheikh, was arrested by the Bhoiwada Police for allegedly stealing mobile phones from the premises of King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital. Authorities recovered nine stolen phones with a total estimated value of Rs 1 lakh.

The case came to light after a doctor attached to KEM Hospital reported the theft of his Samsung A54, valued at Rs 10,000, which was stolen between 12:30 am and 7 am on January 4. With increasing complaints of mobile thefts on hospital premises, the crime detection team launched a detailed investigation. Officers reviewed footage from 40–50 CCTV cameras and conducted technical analysis to trace the suspect.

Police identified the accused as Sheikh, who was residing on hospital grounds. Investigators found that he would allegedly visit the hospital around midnight on specific days with the intent to steal mobile phones from staff and visitors.

Acting on this information, the police, in coordination with hospital staff, laid a trap for eight to ten consecutive nights. On February 16, around 1 am, Sheikh arrived at the location to commit another theft. He was detained, and two stolen phones were recovered from him.

Further investigation led to the recovery of seven additional stolen mobile phones, bringing the total to nine devices worth approximately Rs 1 lakh. Authorities are continuing the probe to determine if Sheikh is linked to other theft cases.
