FAIRFIELD, Iowa — A southeast Iowa woman was taken into custody Friday morning after police discovered methamphetamine during a routine traffic stop.
At approximately 8:15 a.m., an officer with the Fairfield Police Department stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of West Jefferson Avenue due to the driver having a suspended license.
During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine inside a wallet belonging to Felicity McCloud, 25, of Fairfield.
McCloud was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance — 3rd or subsequent offense (methamphetamine), which is classified as a Class D felony in Iowa.
She was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and is currently being held on a $5,000 bond, pending an initial court appearance.
