The city crime branch arrested Fatima Mansuri, a woman drug peddler from Mumbai, during a routine checking and search operation near Regional Park, seizing MD drugs worth Rs 3.4 lakh, police said on Wednesday.
According to DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya, the woman became nervous upon seeing the police and attempted to flee. When questioned, she disclosed her identity, and a woman constable conducted a legal search of her handbag. A transparent plastic pouch containing 34.6 grams of MD drugs was recovered, along with a mobile phone. The total value of the seized items is estimated at around Rs 4 lakh. A case has been registered against her under sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act at the crime branch police station.
In a separate breakthrough, Tejaji Nagar police solved a kidnapping and robbery case involving YouTuber Tanishk Bairagi. The incident occurred near Kailod Fata on Bypass Road, when Bairagi was stopped by five men after they collided with his sports car. The accused kidnapped him, stole two gold rings, and discarded his mobile phone.
Using informer inputs, CCTV footage, and technical evidence, the police arrested Nitesh and Arjun from Banganga, Vijay and Sanjay from Chandan Nagar, and Suksin from Banganga. Recovered items and the vehicle used in the crime were valued at around Rs 10 lakh. Police noted that four of the accused are habitual offenders with multiple prior cases for robbery, illegal weapons possession, and assault. Further investigations are ongoing.
