San Antonio, TX — A father and son have been arrested following a shooting involving a 16-year-old boy connected to drug activity, San Antonio law enforcement confirmed.
Dakota Henry, 18, and his father, Elliot Henry, 42, were taken into custody after deputies responded to a drug-related shooting incident involving the teenager, who is Elliot Henry’s biological son and Dakota’s younger brother.
According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, the 16-year-old victim was involved in the drug trade and had arranged to meet a buyer to sell THC vape cartridges. During the meeting, individuals in a separate vehicle produced a weapon, and the teen was shot. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Sheriff Salazar stated that both the father and older brother were aware of the teenager’s involvement in drugs but allegedly permitted him to continue in that lifestyle. Deputies recovered a variety of drugs and firearms from their residence during the investigation.
“This is part of a disturbing trend we’ve seen unfolding over the past several years. Many drug-related shootings have involved misdemeanor marijuana and vape cartridges,” Sheriff Salazar said. “Parents should be up to speed on what these things look like and their effects. The scary thing is what kids are willing to do to each other for this stuff. Parents need to realize what’s going on with their youngsters and put a stop to it.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be filed.
