: Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the gold bar robbery that occurred near Car Street, Mangaluru, on the night of September 26. The suspects — Farish (18), Safwan (23), Arafath Ali (18), and Faraz (19), all from Ullal — were taken into custody on September 29.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 8:45 p.m. when Mustafa, an employee of Choice Gold Jewellery, was transporting a gold bar on a scooter (KA-19EZ-2079). Near the Sri Venkataramana Temple, the accused intercepted him. Two men on a scooter blocked his path, followed by a car carrying additional assailants. Mustafa was forcefully dragged into the vehicle, assaulted, and later dumped at Ekkur. The gang fled with the gold bar.
The case was filed under FIR No. 111/2025 at the Mangaluru North Police Station, invoking Sections 137(2) and 310(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Investigators confirmed that the robbery was premeditated.
Crucially, a juvenile employee at the jewellery store was found to have tipped off the robbers. The juvenile allegedly shared information about Mustafa’s transport schedule with Farish, enabling the planned ambush.
Police have recovered a Suzuki Access scooter (KA-19HT-8545) used in the crime. However, the getaway car and the stolen gold bar remain untraced.
