Faridabad, Haryana: Police have arrested Ranbir Singh (36) for allegedly killing his two-year-old stepson in the Sikri Mohalla area of Ballabgarh on January 25. Singh has been taken on a two-day police remand following his production in a city court.
According to officials, the accused initially misled his wife, claiming the child had suffered a fatal fall down the stairs. The post-mortem was conducted, and the body was initially handed over to the family, with no case registered at the time. A later investigation revealed the murder, leading to an FIR being filed at Sector 58 Police Station.
Ranbir Singh, a native of Sishta village, Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, admitted during interrogation that he married a woman in November last year, who had three children from her previous marriage. He reportedly disliked the children and had planned to eliminate them.
Police said that on the evening of January 25, Singh allegedly took the two-year-old stepson away from the house and killed him by throwing him to the ground, before returning home and claiming the fatal fall occurred on the stairs.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are examining the circumstances to prevent similar incidents and ensure accountability.
