In a major breakthrough, Prakasam police, with support from YSR Kadapa police, arrested a three-member gang involved in a string of inter-district house burglaries, red sanders smuggling, and ganja trafficking. Seized property included 924.33 grams of gold, 3.8 kg of silver, 6.19 kg of ganja, and a white Tata Manza car, with total value estimated at Rs85 lakh.
Prakasam SP AR Damodar presented the accused and the recovered assets at a press conference in Ongole on Monday.
The arrested individuals are:
Chimparthy Fakruddin alias Goresab (35) from Khaderpalli, with a staggering 111 cases, including 74 for red sanders smuggling and 16 thefts.
Chimparthy Mahaboob Peera (25), also from Khaderpalli, and
Gandlu Lateef Basha (24) from Proddatur, both implicated in at least 16 recent thefts.
Police apprehended the trio on May 4 near SVKP College in Podili, after their vehicle crashed into a tree during an attempted escape.
The gang was active across five districts:
Prakasam (3 cases)
Nellore (8 cases)
YSR Kadapa (3 cases)
Anantapur and Annamayya (1 case each)
Investigations began after a burglary reported in Podili on April 14. Further revelations are expected as police continue the probe.
