Hyderabad Cybercrime police have arrested two individuals involved in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit cosmetic products, including popular hair oils and face creams, mimicking well-known brands sold online.
Chauhan Niral Babubhai and Neel Nikulbhai, both residents of Surat, Gujarat, were caught producing fake versions of products such as the widely demanded Rabbit Hair Oil, originally marketed by Punarjeevani Pvt Ltd. The counterfeiters replicated the packaging, labels, and product images to deceive consumers.
The accused sourced oils and creams from the open market and repackaged them to resemble authentic items. Their forged products were sold through an e-commerce platform, causing significant consumer deception.
The case came to light following a complaint by Rabbit Hair Oil’s management, leading to the registration of an FIR and the subsequent arrest of the two suspects. Efforts continue to apprehend three others—Vishesh Ahuja, Prasad, and Alisha—who are currently absconding.
