The Highway Police in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested Harish Kumar, also known as Saurav Srivastava, for posing as an officer of various armed forces and being involved in cheating, fraud, and exploiting women with false marriage promises.
Kumar, who falsely claimed to be an officer of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and other law enforcement agencies, used these deceptive identities to manipulate and deceive people. His arrest followed a complaint from a woman who had fallen victim to his fraud.
The police’s investigation revealed that Kumar had tricked several women by promising them government jobs and making fake marriage proposals, despite being married himself. As a fake Assistant Commandant of the CRPF, he gained the trust of his victims and exploited them emotionally and financially.
SP Arvind Kumar confirmed that this was not Kumar’s first run-in with the law. He had been previously arrested in Allahabad for similar offenses. During the investigation, the police recovered several incriminating items, including a fake CRPF uniform, ATM cards, Aadhaar cards of multiple individuals, a laptop, and a Brezza car.
Kumar had been working as an agent for a private insurance company. He used his guise as a security officer to visit police and paramilitary camps, taking photographs and videos to further his fraud schemes. These materials were then used to make false promises of jobs and manipulate women into believing his marriage proposals.
The police are continuing their investigations to identify and locate other victims who may have fallen prey to Kumar’s fraudulent activities.
