A joint team of Central Railway and Western Railway arrested a man for allegedly running a fake “Baba Bangali” poster racket on railway premises. Officials seized around 15,000 unauthorised posters during the operation at Reay Road on Tuesday, February 17.

The accused has been identified as Md Nazir Andari. Acting on instructions from the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner and based on informer inputs, the joint team conducted the raid at Mira Ali Dargah in Darukhana, Reay Road.

The operation involved SIPF G.K. Rai, ASI P.K. Mishra, SIPF S.K. Soni, and the Western Railway team.

Officials found the accused in possession of around 15,000 printed posters promoting the services of a self-styled “Baba Bangali.” Upon questioning, Md Nazir Andari admitted to running the promotional activity and using railway property without official permission.

A case has been registered at Wadala under Sections 144, 145(b), 147, and 166. Further investigation revealed the involvement of other suspects who assisted in printing and pasting the posters inside railway coaches. Authorities are also scrutinising financial transactions linked to the printing agency and individuals involved in pasting the posters.

Railway officials emphasised that unauthorised advertisements and promotional activities on railway premises are illegal and warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
