FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Fairhope Police Department has arrested three individuals connected to a string of retail thefts totaling nearly $9,000, with stolen merchandise being sold on social media platforms.
On September 13, Walmart security observed two suspects attempting to leave the store with a shopping cart full of unpaid items. Though the suspects escaped in a vehicle, surveillance footage captured the incident.
Days later, on September 17, police spotted the vehicle linked to the thefts, leading to the arrest of a woman after a foot pursuit. Further investigation uncovered the involvement of a third suspect.
Authorities identified the arrested suspects as 33-year-old Olivia Scott Crawford, 34-year-old Shane Andrew Steiner, and 36-year-old Krystel Gabrielle Mund.
Crawford faces charges of second-degree theft of property and receiving stolen property. Steiner is charged with second-degree theft, receiving stolen property, promoting prison contraband (fentanyl), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mund is charged with second-degree receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The stolen goods, taken from Walmart, Lowe’s, and Home Depot, have been recovered and returned to their respective stores.
Fairhope police continue to investigate the case.
