GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — In a major victory against narcotics trafficking, 161 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately $16.1 million, were seized in a sweeping multi-agency operation in North Carolina. The arrest of 25-year-old Fabian Nicolas Camarena-Alvarado marks a key development in the months-long investigation.
According to Sheriff Danny H. Rogers of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), the seizure was the result of a coordinated effort by several agencies, including the GCSO VICE/Narcotics Unit, Greensboro Police Department, Eden Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The investigation began in January 2025 and targeted a significant drug trafficking network operating across county lines. Authorities reported that Camarena-Alvarado played a central role in the distribution and trafficking of the narcotics.
He was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond under a federal indictment. He is expected to face federal drug trafficking charges.
“This is a substantial disruption to a drug pipeline that could have flooded our communities,” said Sheriff Rogers. “We are proud of the teamwork and dedication shown by all the agencies involved.”
The case remains active as law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the wider network of individuals connected to the trafficking ring. Officials have urged community members to report any tips related to drug activity, assuring that information can be shared anonymously through local law enforcement channels.
