Ezra Brady Arrested for Smoke Shop Theft in Houlton

Man caught stealing cigarettes, fleeing on bicycle

HOULTON, Maine – A 34-year-old Houlton man, Ezra Brady, was arrested Monday evening after allegedly stealing cigarettes from a local smoke shop and fleeing the scene on a bicycle.

Police reported that Brady entered the Maine Smoke Shop at 139 North Road at 6:34 p.m. on November 10, wearing a black hoodie and black surgical mask. He reportedly took four cartons of cigarettes from the self-service area and attempted to flee.

The store clerk chased Brady, successfully recovering the stolen cigarettes, and provided video evidence to authorities.

Houlton Police Officers Corporal Austin White and Officer Joshua Robbins responded to the call. Officer White located Brady at Nickel-Back Redemption on 83 North Street, matching the clothing description.

During the investigation, police also recovered the bicycle, face mask, and duct tape allegedly used in the theft.

Brady was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, a Class C felony due to his prior record, and a probation hold. He was transported to Aroostook County Jail, with bail set at $1,000 cash for the theft charge.
