Ex-Convict Mohammed Nazran Held in Rs 30 Lakh Bhogal Robbery

Delhi Police say gold was handed to goldsmith for melting

Twenty days after a daring burglary in South East Delhi’s Bhogal area, police have arrested Mohammed Nazran (52), the main accused in the theft of gold ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh from a private residence.

Nazran, a resident of Nalbandan Gali, Shah Ganj Chowk, Ajmeri Gate, was apprehended after a sustained investigation. Police revealed that the stolen gold had already been handed over to a goldsmith for melting, making recovery efforts more challenging.

During interrogation, it was discovered that Nazran had previously served 13 years in a Bengaluru jail after being convicted of murdering his wife in 2007. Released in 2019, he reportedly turned to organized theft and has since been involved in multiple robberies across the region.

The Delhi Police continue to investigate accomplices and the goldsmith involved in disposing of the stolen ornaments.
