CENTREVILLE, MS — A former police officer in South Mississippi is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing and pawning department-issued firearms.
Patrick A. Harris, formerly with the Centreville Police Department, was arrested Thursday and charged with embezzlement, according to State Auditor Shad White.
Investigators say Harris stole three semi-automatic pistols and sold them to a pawn shop. He later took two additional pistols from the department’s evidence/property room and pawned them as well.
If convicted, Harris could face up to $5,000 in fines and up to 20 years in prison under Mississippi law.
State Auditor Shad White’s office is continuing to investigate, and no further details about court proceedings have been released.
