The Madhya Pradesh Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) has arrested former Bishop P.C. Singh from Mangalore, Karnataka, in connection with multiple charges of fraud and forgery. Singh faces 64 criminal cases registered across several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Punjab, and Haryana, along with investigations by the Enforcement Directorate.
An FIR (Crime No. 82/25) was filed under Sections 406, 420, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code against P.C. Singh, former Bishop of the Jabalpur Diocese, and Paul Dupare, Chairman of the Nagpur Diocesan Trust Association (NDTA). The case involves the embezzlement of Rs2,45,30,830, compensation received for the acquisition of 0.22 hectares of land belonging to Barley School, Katni, by the Indian Railways.
Investigations revealed that Singh, in collusion with Dupare, submitted a forged letter purportedly from the Principal of Barley School to the court to claim the compensation. Instead of transferring the funds to the authorized NDTA accounts, the money was diverted and misappropriated.
Further evidence showed that Singh neither sought permission from NDTA nor informed them about receiving the compensation, despite NDTA being the legally authorized entity.
The EOW team arrested P.C. Singh in Mangalore and is currently interrogating him. One accused in the case remains absconding. Legal proceedings will continue, with the accused to be presented before the Hon’ble Court.
P.C. Singh, son of the late Shri Bilat Singh and resident of Bishop House, Jabalpur, is a repeat offender with 64 registered cases across multiple states.
The arrest was conducted by the Economic Offenses Cell Headquarters, Bhopal, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent S.S. Dhami of the EOW Unit, Jabalpur, with key members including Inspector Momendra Kumar Merscole, Abhinav Thakur, Sheikh Nadeem, and Sunil Mishra.
