NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — A man wanted for homicide with a firearm in New Jersey was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) while attempting to enter the United States at Rainbow Bridge on Monday.
The suspect, 41-year-old Everton Thomas of New Jersey, was traveling on a commercial bus when CBP officers flagged his name through a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check. The system indicated an active homicide warrant issued by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
After verifying Thomas’ identity and confirming the warrant, CBP took him into custody and handed him over to the New York State Police as a Fugitive from Justice.
Thomas is currently being held pending extradition back to New Jersey, where he faces charges related to the alleged homicide involving a firearm.
This arrest is part of CBP’s ongoing effort to ensure that fugitives wanted for violent crimes are intercepted before entering the U.S.
