BETTENDORF, Iowa — A 19-year-old Rock Island man is facing serious charges after Bettendorf Police say he broke into a vehicle and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of tools and electronics.
Evan Webb was arrested after authorities alleged he entered a GMC Yukon on August 22, 2024, without permission and took over $6,600 worth of construction tools and a computer from the SUV, which belonged to three different victims.
Following the incident, investigators say Webb sold many of the stolen tools to three separate pawnshops across the Quad Cities area — all under his own name. Security footage from two of those locations reportedly captured Webb making the transactions. The stolen computer was later sold by Webb’s girlfriend at a Rock Island pawnshop, police added.
Further evidence came from traffic cameras, license plate readers, and Kwik Star surveillance footage, all showing Webb driving his girlfriend’s vehicle to and from the crime scene. A search of Webb’s cell phone records confirmed he was in the area at the time of the burglary.
A warrant for Webb’s arrest was issued on February 11, and he was taken into custody on April 7, 2025. He was later released from the Scott County Jail on April 8. Webb is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on April 25.
