Evan Ramon Weron Charged in Second Copper and Tool Theft Case in Towamencin Township

TOWAMENCIN TOWNSHIP, PA – A Souderton man, already jailed in connection with a $19,000 copper and tool theft in Franconia Township, has been hit with new burglary charges for a separate construction site theft in Towamencin Township, authorities said.

Evan Ramon Weron, 36, of the 400 block of East Chestnut Street, now faces 13 active criminal cases in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, according to court records.

The latest charge stems from a December 2023 burglary at a Wexcon Inc. job trailer on Fretz Road, where police say Weron stole thousands of dollars in commercial construction equipment, copper tubing, and tools.

A Towamencin Township Police investigation revealed the theft occurred sometime before January 2, 2024, when a foreman discovered a cut lock and missing items from the trailer. Stolen goods included a Topcon pipe laser, chainsaws, generator, trash pump, blower, tapping motor, brass fittings, and over 200 feet of copper tubing, police said.

Authorities tracked some items—such as a chainsaw, generator, and blower—to a Cheltenham pawn shop, where Weron allegedly sold them with serial numbers removed. In April 2025, a recovered Topcon pipe laser was linked to the theft, after a person (not charged) told police Weron had given it to him. The item was valued at $3,750 and confirmed as stolen by Wexcon.

Weron was formally charged with felony receiving stolen property last week in connection with the Towamencin case.

This new charge compounds a growing list of felony counts Weron is facing. In May 2025, Franconia Township Police arrested Weron and co-defendant Cody Robert Sebring, 33, after they were caught on surveillance breaking into Gouldey Welding on Allentown Road and stealing valuable copper overnight on May 4–5.

A third man, Ayomal Y. Nanayakkara, 43, of Norristown, was charged as the getaway driver, later admitting to taking the stolen copper to a Philadelphia scrap yard, where it was sold for over $1,700.

Following the execution of a search warrant at Weron’s residence, police recovered evidence linking him to the thefts. Though some conspiracy charges were dropped, several felony theft and receiving stolen property charges were held for court.

Weron remains in Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail. He is represented by public defender Keira Rhoat and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference in September for the Franconia case.

Meanwhile, Sebring, who was also out on bail for a separate copper theft, has since been charged in an unrelated rooftop copper theft in Souderton Borough and is awaiting trial after posting bail.
