San Antonio, TX – A 19-year-old man, Ethan Gonzales, was arrested on Thursday afternoon after fleeing from a traffic stop conducted by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

Officers initiated the traffic stop just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Cupples Road and Ceralvo Street. SAPD officials said that Gonzales, who had two active warrants out for his arrest, was asked to exit his vehicle. However, instead of complying, Gonzales sped off.

Police officers, with help from Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, pursued Gonzales for approximately two miles before arresting him near the intersection of Frio City Road and Ceralvo Street.

Gonzales now faces charges including evading arrest, unlawfully carrying a weapon, and possession of marijuana. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported during or after the chase.

Court records show that Gonzales also faces several charges unrelated to Thursday’s incident, including a 2023 unlawful carrying of a weapon charge and two charges from March 2025 in Kerr County.
