by Amelia Crawford

Ernest Wesley Heinz, 48, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a female driver during a road rage incident near Stockton University.

Police say the victim, Maritza Arias-Galva, had signaled to merge into traffic when Heinz’s vehicle cut her off. At a red light, Heinz reportedly yelled threats at her before firing a single shot that struck her in the face.

The victim quickly called police and was rushed to a nearby hospital. She described the shooter as a man driving a white Hyundai who called her offensive names and threatened her life.

Heinz fled the scene but was later tracked down and arrested at a residence near the campus, based on details provided by the victim. He is currently held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility and is expected to face a detention hearing this week.

Interestingly, Heinz has appeared in small TV and movie roles, including an uncredited part in the 2006 hit series The Sopranos, according to his IMDb profile.
