Ernakulam Trio Held in Rs30 Lakh Coimbatore Robbery

Highway heist near Ettimadai, Rs6 lakh recovered

Coimbatore district police on Thursday arrested three men from Kerala’s Ernakulam district in connection with a highway robbery that took place near Ettimadai on July 12. The robbery involved a loss of Rs30 lakh belonging to a goldsmith from Thrissur.

The arrested suspects have been identified as:

Maneesh Kuttappan (31) from Mattoor

Vishnu Vidyadharan (32) from Okkal

Joseph David (26) from Manjapra

Police apprehended the trio from an area close to the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border, based on intelligence inputs and investigation into the case.

On July 12, a goldsmith from Thrissur, Kerala, was traveling through Ettimadai, Coimbatore district, when he was waylaid and robbed of Rs30 lakh in cash. The robbers had targeted the victim along the highway, indicating that the attack was pre-planned.

Acting on the complaint, Coimbatore police initiated a coordinated search operation, leading to the identification and arrest of the culprits.

During the arrest, police recovered Rs6 lakh in cash from the accused. Investigations are ongoing to trace the remaining Rs24 lakh and determine whether more individuals were involved in the planning and execution of the heist.

The arrested men are currently in police custody, and further inquiries are underway to understand the full scope of the operation.
