The Ernakulam Rural Police arrested four men on Wednesday evening after seizing 42 grams of MDMA during a joint operation.

Safir alias Shilas (28)
Safir alias Eppeer (32)
All are residents of Mattancherry. The operation was conducted by a special team comprising Munambam DSP S. Jayakrishnan, Rural District Dansaf Team, and narcotic cell officials including DSP J Umesh Kumar, Inspector K S Sandeep, and SI Vandana Krishna. The raid followed a tip-off received by the police.
The accused had rented a room at a resort in Cherai. Investigations revealed that Safir alias Shilas had brought the drugs from Bengaluru. Police caught the group while they were allegedly preparing to sell MDMA at Cherai, Puthuvype Beach, and other areas in Kochi.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and remanded in judicial custody.
Officials noted that over the past two months, Ernakulam rural police have arrested more than 10 youths in cases involving synthetic drugs. Authorities have also intensified operations against ganja smuggling in the region.
