MONROE COUNTY, Fla. — Two women were arrested Friday after allegedly stealing more than $2,000 worth of groceries from a Winn-Dixie store on Big Pine Key, authorities said.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Erlinda Caridad Hernandez Ramos, 53, of El Portal, and Yaniuska A. Morera Carmona, 42, of Stock Island, are each facing grand theft charges.

Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Adam Linhardt said the women exited the store around 6 p.m. with two fully loaded shopping carts without paying. A witness reportedly recorded video of the incident, capturing the suspects loading the groceries into an SUV outside the store.

The total value of the stolen merchandise was estimated at $2,354.94.

Deputies later located the SUV on Stock Island, arrested both women, and transported them to jail.

Jail records indicate Hernandez Ramos is scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. on December 30, while Morera Carmona is set to appear in court at 8:45 a.m. on January 8, 2026. Hernandez Ramos’ booking photo was not immediately available.
