KINSTON, LENOIR COUNTY – A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the Sunday shooting of a 12-year-old on Dixon Street, according to the Kinston Police Department.
Erion Strong, 20, of Kinston, was taken into custody at approximately 2:00 a.m. at his residence. He faces a long list of charges, including:
4 counts of Attempted Murder
Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
Discharging a Firearm to Incite Fear
8 counts of Felony Conspiracy
Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits
Going Armed to the Terror of the People
Strong is being held without bond at the Lenoir County Jail, as he was on pre-trial release when the shooting occurred.
In a related arrest, 18-year-old Shyawnah Harris, also of Kinston, was arrested on Monday, August 11 at her home without incident. She has been charged with:
4 counts of Attempted Murder
3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
1 count of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury
7 counts of Felony Conspiracy
Harris is also being held without bond at the Lenoir County Jail.
The charges stem from a shooting incident in which a 12-year-old child was struck in the arm. The child survived and received medical treatment. The case remains under active investigation.
