SYcamore, IL — Erica L. Walker, 48, a deputy clerk at the DeKalb County Circuit Clerk’s Office, was arrested Thursday afternoon at the DeKalb County Courthouse in connection with an investigation into Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Walker faces charges of theft, wire fraud, and forgery. Court documents allege she forged documents and created a fictitious business to secure a PPP loan exceeding $20,000 in 2021.
Walker, who has worked in the courthouse for over 20 years, is the second employee from DeKalb County to be charged with similar offenses in recent months.
The DeKalb County Circuit Clerk’s Office has declined to comment on the case.
