WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Eric Wells, a former employee of a safety equipment supplier, has been arrested after allegedly stealing approximately $5,000 from his employer through the unauthorized use of a company-issued fuel credit card.
The investigation began on October 28, 2024, when the company reported suspicious activity involving the fuel credit card that had been assigned to Wells during his employment. The card was used for unauthorized purchases after Wells was terminated on September 30, 2024.
Initially, the company reported a loss of about $3,060.88. However, further investigation revealed the total estimated theft to be around $5,000. Wells used the stolen credit card at multiple locations, including a Wawa gas station at 2370 45th Street, where two transactions were recorded on October 12, 2024, totaling $140.77. Surveillance footage from the gas station matched Wells’ description, and a positive identification was made by his employer.
Bank statements further confirmed the fraudulent charges were made using Wells’ assigned PIN. Based on this evidence, Wells was arrested and charged with grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and unlawful possession of a stolen credit or debit card.
