St. Charles, Ill. – A St. Charles Township man, Eric Karwowski, 42, has been arrested after authorities discovered five stolen luxury cars, a range of fraud tools, firearms, and drugs at his home. The investigation began in Southlake, Texas, after the owner of a black Mercedes Benz G550 used GPS to track their stolen vehicle to a home in the 43W000 block of Badger Court in St. Charles Township.
Upon arriving at the scene, Kane County deputies found not only the Mercedes but also a Land Rover Range Rover, Tesla Model X, Audi Qattro A3, and BMW X4—all believed to be stolen. Karwowski, who claimed ownership of all the vehicles, could not provide valid documentation, and their Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) did not match the records found in the cars.
A search warrant executed on January 3 led to the discovery of numerous illegal items at Karwowski’s residence, including a VIN press, laser engraver, fake vehicle paperwork, firearms, and various drugs. Authorities also recovered over 12 grams of cocaine, nearly a gram of heroin, cash, burglary tools, and keys for stolen vehicles in a follow-up search of his vehicle.
Karwowski now faces multiple charges, including possession of stolen motor vehicles, fraud, firearms possession by a felon, and controlled substances. He has been ordered detained until his next court hearing, scheduled for February 21.
Further investigation into his criminal activities is underway, including cooperation with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.
