Mercer County, WV – A weekend domestic dispute in Mercer County ended tragically with one man dead.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic dispute at a home on Ivy Street in the Glenwood area.
Witnesses reported that a fight occurred between two men. According to authorities, 39-year-old Eric Halsey allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head with a glass ashtray and left the scene before deputies arrived.
The victim was transported to WVU Medical/Princeton Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies located and arrested Halsey shortly after the incident without incident. He is currently being held in the Southern Regional Jail on murder charges with a $750,000 cash-only bond.
