New developments have surfaced in the ongoing Rs3.04 crore fraud case involving the purchase of land for building a cowshed and a grand temple in Limb village, Aravalli’s Bayad taluka. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Rajkot has issued lookout notices against the four accused Swamis of the Swaminarayan sect, amid concerns that the suspects may flee the country.
The EOW issued the notices on September 4 as part of their ongoing investigation into the fraudulent land transaction. Authorities are still unsure whether the accused Swamis remain in India or have already left the country.
As of now, the EOW has arrested three individuals in connection with the case. These include Lalji Dhola, a teacher from Surat, Bhupendra Patel from Pimplaj village in Gandhinagar, and Vijaysinh Chauhan from Limb village. The three men are currently under police remand as the authorities investigate the full extent of the funds they received from the fraudulent transactions.
Further investigations have revealed that three of the four Swamis named in the Rajkot case have been involved in multiple frauds across Gujarat. Notably, Madhavpriya Swami (MP Swami) has been implicated in a ₹75.50 lakh fraud in Viramgam and a separate case in Surat’s Uttran police station related to interest-based dealings. Jaykrishna Swami (JK Swami) is accused in two separate fraud cases in Surat, one for ₹1.34 crore in Varachha and another case of Rs1.34 crore lodged with the Surat Crime Branch.
Another accused, Devprakash Swami (Darshanpriya Swami), faces charges in a ₹3.22 crore fraud case in Anand. The EOW continues to probe these fraudulent activities and is working to recover the defrauded amounts, while also tracking the whereabouts of the Swamis involved.
This ongoing investigation has raised serious concerns over the misuse of religious trust for personal gain and the widespread nature of these fraudulent activities in Gujarat.
