ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) — Two suspects were arrested and charged after a coordinated effort by Enfield police and a state police retail theft task force to crack down on retail theft in the shopping district.

The suspects, 21-year-old Devon Arthur and 20-year-old Gabriella Martins, both from Springfield, MA, were identified by police following their involvement in the theft operation.

Police conducted the planned operation on Wednesday to target shoplifters, collaborating with several stores to identify and apprehend thieves in action. Arthur and Martins were caught in the act of stealing, officials said.

In addition to the theft at the shopping district, evidence linking the suspects to a separate retail store in Enfield was also discovered.

Both Arthur and Martins were charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny in connection with their actions.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to reduce retail theft and improve safety in the area.
