Emily Svoboda Sentenced to 13 Years for Meth & Fentanyl Trafficking

Missoula Woman Faces 13-Year Federal Sentence for Drug Conspiracy

by Sophia Bennett

Emily Svoboda, 31, of Missoula, was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute controlled substances, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana, announced on March 25.

Svoboda’s conviction stems from her involvement in trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl in 2022. Court records reveal that on November 23, 2022, a confidential source purchased 100 fentanyl pills from Svoboda for $600. During this exchange, the source inquired about methamphetamine, using the street term “clear.” While Svoboda did not have any at the time, she indicated she would receive a resupply later that evening.

Subsequent transactions followed, including one on November 28, 2022, where the source bought 26.5 grams of methamphetamine and 50 fentanyl pills for $1,000. On December 9, 2022, Svoboda sold 53.7 grams of methamphetamine and 100 fentanyl pills for $1,400.

Authorities further investigated Svoboda’s activities, reviewing her Facebook account, which contained messages related to drug sales. Svoboda later admitted to law enforcement that she had been distributing drugs, and she disclosed that she had been receiving between two and four ounces of methamphetamine every two to four weeks from a co-conspirator between September and December 2022.

Svoboda will serve her sentence in the federal system, where parole is not an option.
