BELL COUNTY, Ky. — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft of a payroll check from Bell County EMS.

Authorities arrested 24-year-old Emily Rayne Long, an EMT with Bell County EMS, on February 13. Investigators say Long stole a payroll check worth $1,128.05 on January 30. She is charged with theft by unlawful taking.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office reports that 23-year-old Caleb Chase Day allegedly cashed the stolen check at a gas station in Harlan. When authorities attempted to serve a warrant, Day fled behind a home and jumped a fence before being taken into custody shortly afterward.

Day faces charges of fleeing or evading police, theft by deception, and possession of a forged instrument.

The investigation remains ongoing.
