Elvis Lizama Pena Arrested for Mail Theft in South Pasadena

Suspect caught with stolen mail, fishing device at USPS drop box

A 24-year-old suspect, identified as Elvis Lizama Pena from Los Angeles, was arrested early Tuesday morning for mail theft after a South Pasadena police officer discovered stolen mail and a fishing device at a USPS drop box.

At approximately 1:44 a.m. on March 25, 2025, the officer spotted Lizama Pena near a United States Postal Service drop box located in the 1100 block of Fremont Avenue. Upon noticing the officer, the suspect attempted to walk away, prompting the officer to investigate further. The officer found opened mail on the ground near the drop box.

Following the detention of Lizama Pena, authorities uncovered a mail theft fishing device inside the drop box, along with additional stolen mail. Lizama Pena was subsequently booked at the South Pasadena Jail but was later released with a citation. The case will be forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
