BOISE, Idaho — A 26-year-old man has been charged with multiple burglaries and grand theft auto after allegedly stealing a vehicle from an LDS Church in early December, authorities said.
Ellijul Berry faces several felony counts related to the theft of a Toyota Rav4 parked near an apartment building. Investigators said the vehicle, which belonged to the LDS Church, was tracked traveling to multiple locations between midnight and 5 a.m. on Dec. 4. The car was later abandoned at the BYU-Idaho stadium parking lot.
Authorities allege that Berry burglarized several locations along the route and broke into multiple vehicles, stealing items including a purse, camera, loose change, a wallet and debit cards, a birthday card, and hand sanitizer.
EastIdahoNews.com reported that Berry left the vehicle at the stadium before boarding a bus reportedly headed to Las Vegas. He was arrested on Dec. 8 and is facing felony charges for both grand theft auto and burglary.
The investigation remains ongoing.
